Cafe Server

Description
Friendly, hard-working, and (almost certainly) a morning person: it’s the team members of our cafés who create the friendly, familiar environment to complement our extensive range of homemade soups, hot food, sandwiches, salads and freshly-blended juices.

As a company, we look for enthusiastic, friendly, and personable team members who show a dedication to the smaller details. Experience as a barista is highly desirable, but we believe a warm personality and keen organisational skills are equally as important.

This role will be based between our cafes in St Helier and The Shipyard, as well as some shifts at Jersey airport. Candidates must be prepared to start some shifts at 6:00am, and will also need to provide 5 years' checkable employment references and complete a criminal record check through Disclosure Scotland.

What we offer:

This role has an annual basic salary of £25,375 for a 40-hour-per-week contract (equivalent to a basic hourly rate of £12.20), with all overtime paid.

Our employees also have access to a generous benefits package, including:
• Meals provided while on duty
• Staff discount across our restaurant and café businesses
• Christmas Day and Boxing Day off, as well as your birthday (after one year’s employment)

Contract and hours:

This is a permanent, full-time role (with minimum, contracted hours of an average of 40 hours per week across the month). Our teams are working up to 45-50 hours per week during busy periods, with all overtime paid.

A work-life balance is important to everyone in the business, and we strive to ensure that everyone works a 5-day week on a regular basis.

Right to work:

This is an imminent hire and, as such, requires the candidate to have the immediate right to work in Jersey and the United Kingdom (Jersey, UK, or Irish passport, EU Settled or Pre-Settled Status, or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK).

If you do not have the immediate right to work in the UK (and would need to apply for a visa), please instead apply to one of our "Fixed-term" vacancies at https://harri.com/jprestaurants

Our approach:

Our aim is for customers to leave wanting to return – and recommending us to their friends and family. With our customer-first approach, we are clear and transparent about what we offer and what customers can expect, and we are constantly listening to feedback from our customers and team members on how we can improve further.

Our business:

Established in 1946 as a small family-owned studio pottery, Jersey Pottery grew to become one of the Island’s busiest and most popular tourist attractions in the 1980s. In the early 1960s a coffee bar was introduced to cater to tourists visiting the ceramic factory and showroom. The original coffee bar was the beginning of JPRestaurants, which has now become one of the leading restaurant and catering businesses in Jersey, serving thousands of customers daily with fresh, local and innovative food.

JPRestaurants has invested in digitalisation to drive excellence, enhance customer service and build a better working environment for its workforce. Our team has the opportunity to work and develop skills in a hospitality environment backed by a world-class technology infrastructure and innovative working practices.

We are also mindful of our role as a local business and look to work for the benefit of our community and environment through careful management of our suppliers, good working conditions and initiatives to support others less fortunate than us.
