Job Summary

The Maitre d is responsible for checking in and managing the seating of all guests, both reservations and walk-ins. The Maitre D should anticipate and accommodate the needs of guests while providing professional and exceptional service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains constant awareness of table availability in reservation system.
  • Always ensures that menu is up to date and printed before opening of venue.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the office.
  • Able to assign seating effectively using all considerations including service standards, staffing levels and kitchen capacity.
  • Provides dining room team with initial table setup.
  • Sets up host stand, review reservation book and maintain general cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area and venue throughout shift.
  • Actively takes and processes reservations and strategically plots reservations while accommodating walk-in guests. 
  • Answers the phone with a positive attitude and helps with guest requests.
  • Always demonstrates a pleasant demeanor and a sincere desire to be responsive to guest’s needs.    
  • Appropriately tags all VIP guests in Resy
  • Always verifies the total number of guests in each party.  
  • Accurately handles reservations and communicates the outlet’s hours of operation and encourages guest(s) to reserve a table in another outlet if booked.
  • Identifies the client’s expectations and goals for in reservation notes for server’s reference. 
  • Able to deliver and exceed the expectations of a highly demanding clientele.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years experience
  • Must have experience in a guest facing position.
  • Previous experience with guest reservation systems; Resy preferred.
  • Must possess excellent oral & written communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Has excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and time management ability.
  • Prior experience as an event coordinator preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Microsoft office efficient

Certifications Required

  • RBS Certification
  • Food Handling Safety certification
