Church Street Tavern

Church Street Tavern is a privately-owned tavern in the centre of Colchester which opened in 2014. Its sister site is the Sun Inn, Dedham, which is a coaching inn with a bar, dining room, lounge and guest accommodation.<br>Coaching inns and taverns are a rich part of the UK’s heritage, with taverns springing up at a time when there were no telephones or the raft of social media options we have to be able to communicate today. If you wanted to do business, politics or socialise with people, you went to a tavern. Continuing that tradition, we named the handsome Church Street building a tavern, and love that it has become a great place to meet, do business, have fun, and be well looked after.<br>Church Street Tavern has a relaxed, welcoming and contemporary ground floor bar and lounge, with a first floor, stylish restaurant. While serving good quality food and drinks is important to us, we know that it is equally important that we make our customers time spent with us a comfortable, happy, satisfying and uplifting one. Business, like life, is about how you make people feel. It is that simple, and that hard!
