We are a unique facility, combining a fully functioning winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, private events in a variety of configurations, and fine dining. We have created a compelling mix for our sophisticated clientele of foodies, and active cultural patrons—bringing the wine country experience to the middle of a large city.


Position Summary
The Coffee Roaster successfully manages all coffee program operations and is responsible for creating,

preparing, and roasting coffee beans. This position will be responsible for oversight and day to day execution of the program, fulfilling orders and managing delivery to all locations, as well as all other needs associated with the coffee department.


Overview of Responsibilities

●       Roast coffee within the determined specifications and maintain inventory levels

●       Analyze roast profiles with appropriate team members

●       Collaborate with internal departments on creative coffee offerings

●       Maintain standards for product specifications, blends, recipes, and acceptable quality specifications

●       Fulfill internal orders and manage shipping to other locations

●       Sample, select, and purchase green coffee

●       Set up coffee events with the team and testers for sensory evaluations regarding all offerings

●       Maintain and clean roasting equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on processing equipment including cleaning, lubricating, and visual inspection

●       Determine roasting needs, assess roasted coffee stock levels

●       Keep a tidy work area/roasting floor

●       Regular QC of your own work

●       Notify others of discrepancies with roasts, green coffee inventory, or order fulfillment

●       Communicate and seek proper approval regarding coffee department needs

●       Evaluate production roasts through cupping samples and tasting cafe offerings

●       Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person, in line with OSHA safety standards

●       Ensure the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product

specifications

●       Interact with guests as needed

●       Barista responsibilities as needed

●       Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

●       Minimum 2+ years of professional roasting experience

●       Demonstrates professionalism and respect for customers, management, and co-workers

●       Ability to understand daily production needs

●       Communicates comfortably and competently with customers and co-workers

●       Possess knowledge of processing equipment

●       Ability to perform job duties with care; is mindful and thorough

●       Able to multitask and remain composed under pressure

●       Ability to take personal responsibility for cafe operations

●       Able to work a variety of shifts such as early mornings and some weekends

●       Works well in an independent setting
