Balham. Looking for a creative role with a fresh and seasonal menu, offering autonomy and the security of working for a well-established managed pub company?

Nestled between Balham and Clapham South tube stations, The Devonshire stands as a popular and well-established pub in Balham, on a mission to rebuild its once excellent reputation for food.

Food vision is British seasonal at heart with broadly European and Middle Eastern accents, not over complicated but bursting punchy flavours in an understated style.

What we look for in a Head Chef:

This role calls for an individual prepared to take on the challenge of reclaiming The Dev's high position on Balham's culinary map. Looking for an ambitious chef, ready to elevate the current food offer and the challenge of rebuilding the team. An inspiring leader who will mentor, develop and help to retain a team of 5-7 chefs.

  • Be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability to design and deliver new dishes
  • Have a proactive approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
  • Have experience championing fresh and seasonal quality food either as a Head Chef or in the position of Sous Chef
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Be able to manage the kitchen staff rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Demonstrate great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and labour
