The Dog & Fox is an iconic pub and hotel in the heart of Wimbledon Village. We are an established events venue, pub, dining serving a premium collection of draught & craft beers, local London spirits and fine wines. We offer the best in seasonal, fresh, British produce for our menu and have 25 exquisite bedrooms above in our boutique hotel. Just a 10-minute walk from Wimbledon train station and on several bus routes we are easy to reach and busy all year long. With Wimbledon Tennis Championships in the summer and Christmas functions throughout the winter there is never a boring moment at the Dog & Fox Hotel! We’re looking for a strong Assistant Manager to join the team at The Dog & Fox — someone who is ready to take the next step in their career and is serious about becoming a General Manager.
This is a complex, high-performing site with multiple revenue streams: a busy pub, the Coach House wedding venue, private dining in the Library, and 25 boutique bedrooms. It requires someone who can think commercially, lead from the front, and adapt across different parts of the business.
The role
You will work closely with the General Manager to run the day-to-day operation, taking responsibility for standards, team performance, and guest experience across all areas of the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be expected to take ownership, make decisions, and play a key part in driving the business forward.
What we’re looking for
A proven Assistant Manager from a quality, high-volume environment
Someone confident managing different styles of service (pub, events, rooms)
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Commercial awareness and attention to detail
A genuine interest in long-term progression to General Manager
Just as important as experience is attitude. We’re looking for someone who wants to learn, improve, and build a career with us.
What you’ll be doing
Leading shifts and ensuring consistent, high standards across the site
Supporting the delivery of weddings and private events
Working across the pub, hotel rooms, and private dining operations
Developing and supporting the team
Taking ownership of specific areas of the business as you grow in the role
Acting as a strong number two to the General Manager
Development and progression
This role is designed for someone we can invest in.
You’ll gain exposure to all aspects of running a complex site, with the expectation that you will progress into a General Manager role in the future. You’ll be supported, but also challenged, and given the opportunity to take on real responsibility as you develop.
