Description

Glass Collector

Hi, I'm Dan, and I'm proud to run the incredible 'Duke of Wellington' on the world-famous Portobello Road!

Our pub features in the opening scenes of the 1999 classic 'Notting Hill', but we established ourselves as an iconic part of the neighbourhood during its construction back in 1854 (just two years after the original Duke passed away!) The pub still retains some of her original features including a 360° bar, where tourists from around the world flock from the moment we open our doors, and our fireplaces where you might find Notting Hill locals and the occasional celebrity (Adele signed her first contract here!) relaxing with a drink on a winter's evening.

These features are not the only thing that defines our lovely pub though, as we are constantly building a team of passionate and fun people (like yourself?) to do everything from pouring drinks on our outside bar in summer, to chatting to people from around the world at the bar, to taking orders and bringing food to hungry guests in our Dining Room & Snug, or even to 'hosting' a party at our upstairs bar in the gorgeous Peacock Room.

In the kitchen, Head Chef Lukasz leads a team of hard-working & efficient chefs to deliver over 200 plates of our renowned fish & chips a week, on top of an entire menu made up of freshly-prepared seasonal British ingredients, as well as buffets and canapes for our function guests.

Jack & Alice lead our Front of House team and will give you all the skills you need to deliver great service no matter how busy we get. On top of all of this, as part of Young's we are keen to develop our people and help them find the next step if they are keen for a career in hospitality.

If all of this catches your eye, then apply and head to our screening questions. All we ask is that you currently live within a sensible commute distance, and that you are keen to share something interesting about yourself when you apply.

What We Offer Our Team Members:

  • Access to our Career Pathway, Apprenticeships and training and development courses
  • Free Meals
  • Weekly pay
  • 28 days holiday per year
  • 20% discount in all Young’s pubs and hotels
  • Share Save Scheme
  • Company Pension Scheme

What we look for in a Glass Collector:

Our busy Front of House team are constantly pouring pints, serving great food and shaking cocktails. However, none of this is possible without speedy and efficient clearing and cleaning. This is perfect as a first role, we will train you up and will look to welcome you into our bar team when you're ready (and after your 18th birthday!). All you need to bring to the role is a willingness to learn and an eagerness to keep everything clean as customers stream in and out throughout the shift!

We do not run trial shifts so you do not need to worry about a lack of previous experience. After a successful interview we will invite you in to start a paid training & induction plan personalised to you.

We are currently hiring for a range of hours from one to three evenings or weekends (you will always have one weekend day completely off, though this may alternate depending on other candidates).

Thanks for your interest in working with Youngs.  If you’d like to be part of our team, then apply now!
