The E-commerce & Retail division is a revenue-generating part of the business which is behind developing, promoting and growing The Newt in Somerset as a fine-quality food & beverage brand. Offering a best-in-class experience is of upmost importance. This is achieved through a full vertically-integrated consumer proposition and operation which offers tight quality control across all phases of product delivery.

 

Our Ecommerce Copywriter

Responsible for writing copy and content for our online farm shop, the Copywriter will work with the marketing team to craft beautiful content and compelling stories that will help to bring our products to life online and communicate our core brand values.

Using a combination of sharp copywriting skills and creative flair, you will write both editorial and sales focused copy for a range of different platforms including website product descriptions, social media, CRM and other forms of online and offline advertising from PPC to print media and PR campaigns.

Working to short lead times, you are able to turn around high-end engaging content that is both inspiring and commercially viable. With a strict focus on brand guidelines and tone of voice, you will develop copy that is not only in-line with The Newt brand, but that is shaped to generate revenue, with careful consideration for conversion rates, engagement and search engine rankings.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Make sure copy is aligned with the content calendar, delivering to agreed deadlines
  • Develop and drive a brand-building content strategy that maintains The Newt’s position as a leader in the farm shop grocery market
  • An understanding of the different target customer segments and a knowledge of how best to speak and engage with them
  • Working closely with product teams to produce seasonal and sales focused product descriptions for the website, optimised for SEO. Outlining key reasons to buy and a mix of engaging stories that informs, entertains, and inspires conversion to product
  • Conduct content analysis, reporting on engagement and performance metrics to understand the impact on conversion and revenue, using findings to inform and improve sales copywriting techniques
  • Delivery of website homepage and promotional landing page copy, in accordance with seasonal marketing activity
  • Translate online marketing content into retail shop windows and in-store POS
  • Copywriting for different forms of media: weekly newsletter emails, social media ads, PPC adcopy, print material
  • Proofreading and grammatical checks
  • Adhoc copywriting requests

  

Required qualifications and experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in copywriting for an eCommerce brand, comfortable working with an eCommerce content management system
  • Fluent in English, with perfect grammar and a wide vocabulary
  • Exceptional creative writing skills with the ability to develop and maintain an authentic brand voice
  • Understanding of sales copywriting principles and proven skills in the area of direct response advertising & eCommerce
  • A track record of writing copy with a high conversion rate
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling content that drives engagement
  • Experience with SEO, product and social media copywriting
  • Highly organised and deadline driven. Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A driven, proactive individual with a passion for the farm-food market and an interest in reading and consuming content
