Job Title: Food & Beverage Attendant
Department: Food & Beverage
Work Location: The Mount Royal Hotel, Edinburgh
Key Reporting Line/ Reports to: Food & Beverage Supervisor

Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by the Unlimited Collection is seeking a charming and engaging Food and Beverage Attendant with a passion for service excellence. 

Scope: Assist in the smooth running of the department. To offer the highest level of service to our guests within our Restaurant, Lounge and Room Service. You will report to the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, working towards providing our guests with memorable experiences of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities
  • To welcome guests with confidence and professionalism whilst having the knowledge to ensure a safe environment for our guests, visitors and delegates 
  • To ensure all areas of the Food & Beverage department are meeting required standards at all times 
  • To assist guests by providing information effectively and dealing with queries they may have regarding the property and local area in a courteous manner 
  • To ensure the department is kept clean and  tidy whilst ensuring cleaning records are updated on a daily basis 
  • To ensure high standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times 
  • To liaise and assist with areas of the department during peak times as required 
  • Answers questions and manages complaints, seeking advice from management as necessary 
  • Deals with guest requests in a timely and efficient manner, communicating with other departments as necessary 
  • Ensures that all set shift tasks are carried out to the required standard 
  • Ensures that the handover system is kept up to date in order to ensure that key information is passed to the next shift 
  • Ensure department emails and memos are read, acknowledged and understood and the back office board is up to date 
  • Controls the till, ensuring that the float is balanced at the start and end of the shift  
  • Ensures that all daily and shift reports are printed out and filed in the correct place 
  • Ensures that any financial discrepancies or queries are brought to the immediate attention of management 
  • Takes payments from guests on departure, ensuring that they are accurate 
  • Is aware and adheres to Company policies, including Cash & Keys and Bribery & Corruption procedures 
Physical Requirements/Other
  • Able to lift small weights up to 15kg 
  • Able to push and pull trolleys laden with products 
  • Minimal time during the working day is seated; the job requires the ability to be on your feet for long periods of time and physically able of bending and reaching 
  • Comfortable handling meat and alcohol 
Qualification & Experience
  • Previous experience in a Rosette environment would be an advantage 
  • Previous experience of working in the hospitality industry or customer service environment is essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with customers and external contacts 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of team 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English 
  • Proactive problem solving skills 
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise 
HR/Training/Health and Safety
  • Attends internal and external training as required 
  • Is prepared to become a designated first aider if required 
  • Maintains familiarity with emergency and evacuation procedures 
  • Assists with the training of new colleagues as required 
Other
  • Comes to the assistance of colleagues as and when required 
  • Follows good environmental practices, including turning off lights and equipment and minimizing waste 
  • Is flexible and adaptable to cover shifts at short notice in the event of holidays and sickness 
  • Is willing to travel between properties in the UK if required to attend meetings and training courses 
  • Any other requests which may be reasonably expected within the role
