Job Summary

The Director of Accounting is a member of the Ten Eight Concepts, LLC executive leadership team. The position is responsible for oversight of the accounting and administrative functions of the holding company and subsidiary operating restaurants. Core areas of responsibility include financial reporting and accounting, sales tax and regulatory reporting and payroll functions.

The ideal candidate will have progressive experience, up to a senior-level finance role, possess strong communication skills and a high level of interpersonal skills. Prior experience in multi-entity financial reporting and other business administration responsibilities is preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Own all aspects of accounting operations, including regular financial reporting (e.g. preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP), regular reporting of consolidated business results
  • Assist with forecasting, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement
  • Timely and accurately provide reporting of financial information to operators, and leadership, as required
  • Work directly with operations team(s) to identify inventory and cost of goods sold discrepancies and opportunities
  • Hold operators accountable for timely reporting and submission of expense and payroll information
  • Oversee complete accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and implements the appropriate approval processes
  • Gather financial data for analysis and forecasting with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance. Work closely with operational leadership to understand trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • Prepares preliminary budget workpapers, conducts analysis of actual results to drive budgeting decisions
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
  • Oversight of regular sales, use, liquor and other business taxes

Human Resources/Payroll

  • Works with third party vendors to ensure the accuracy and integration with other pertinent systems, including ERP and R365
  • Bi-weekly payroll processing; manage relationship with outsourced payroll provider and payroll tax administrator. Work directly with operations managers for timekeeping issues and resolution
  • Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude and willingness to help other team members. Commitment to supporting operations and providing adequate feedback and solutions as needed
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Knowledge of general financial and operational accounting; understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Restaurant365 and other accounting programs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred
  • Ten years of financial accounting experience, to include preparation of financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prior experience working in multi-entity environment, prior service in administrative functions outside of Finance
  • Prior experience/background in Payroll functions
  • Hospitality / Restaurant experience is preferred
