Description

OVERVIEW

The Sales & Events Manager will be responsible for Corporate, Group and Travel agent room sales, event space inquiries, site inspections, contracting + conference services. They also provide assistance to the Sales Manager and Director of Sales regarding sales activities to achieve hotel sales budgets. Assigned local sales accounts will also be a key ownership initiative. The Sales & Events Manager is expected to provide clients with a level of service that meets or exceeds their expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ensures correspondence is benefit oriented, comprehensive, professional, timely, and addresses hotel and client needs.
  • Be responsible for booking events and groups which are profitable by following up on inquiries, site inspections, and booking procedures
  • Book and service events in all hotel spaces as well as food and beverage venues such as the bar and pool.
  •  Supports sales and accounting with billing activities for all groups + events
  • Actively upsells each request to maximum profitability and sales.
  • Owns, manages and targets assigned accounts and prospects for new business
  • Maintains an updated file of potential and existing clients with detailed information profile about their potential and production.
  • Maintains an effective trace and follow up system. Responds to customer inquiries and follow up at a timely manner preferably within 2 hours
  • Ensures continuous inventory of collateral of brochures and other materials for distribution/mailings to guests, tradeshows, etc. and kits set up on an ongoing basis for mailings and walk-ins.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

  • Qualifies inquiries and phone calls
  • Conducts site inspections with clients as needed.
  •  Attends sales meetings and any other meetings as required.
  • Assists in entertaining clients as required
  • Acts as liaison between F&B and Hotel operating departments.
  • Attends client/association/company events as required.
  • Assists in the handling of telephone and walk-in inquiries.
  • Assist Sales with the input of group resumes, blocks, and general reservations.
  • Consults with Accounting on billing procedures as require
  •  Assists Director of Sales in preparing and submits production reports, activity reports, sales trips reports and action plans, and other reports as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Participates in trade shows and blitzes as required
  •  Initiates mailings to obtain better market saturation.
  • Stays current on competition and marketplace.
  • Regularly conducts competitive price shopping to ensure hotel is appropriately price for all season in specific market segments.
  • Assists in the general office duties, weekly activities and sales call plans outlining activities, proposals, and business overall as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

 Education: 4-year degree from an accredited university or college

 Knowledge:  At least 2 years previous experience in sales and/or Hospitality related field


SKILLS

  • Must possess strong communication skills both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively via email
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office produce including Word & Excel - knowledge of PowerPoint 
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be fluent in English both verbal and non-verbal, other languages a plus but not required
