Sous Chef

Description

We are looking for a Sous or Junior Sous to come and join our team here at The George. At the heart of the High Road for over 200 years our Head Chef Gerald and his team take inspiration from classic British flavours to modern dining trends. With a seasonal menu that moves with the times we offer an eclectic range of small plates for the bar through to delivering dinners for up to 120 guests in our beautiful function room.

We are inviting driven and committed chefs with a passion for seasonal cooking to join our team! We are recruiting for both Sous and junior sous level chefs.

The successful applicant will have previous experience in a similar environment and be enthusiastic about working in a busy kitchen with high standards for quality and presentation. They will be responsible for managing and developing the kitchen with the head chef and developing the team to grow and push forward personally and for the business. This is an important role and supports the Head Chef in maintaining and delivering our high standards of food while being given the room to develop and create on our menus.

Work patterns vary from lunch shifts to evening shifts with the occasional double. Weekends are a must but we aim to provide a balance. General weeks consist of 45-48 hours with additional available as needed but a work/life balance is a key factor for us here and part of our core values. There are good transport links to the pub with Turnham Green station a short walk away and several bus routes located nearby. To begin work with us you will need right to work in the UK, your own bank account, a valid national insurance number and current photographic ID.

What we can offer you?

·       25% staff discount off food and drink, across all our pubs and hotels for you and your friends and family. This increases the longer you work for us, up to 40%

·       A fair share of tips, paid on top of your hourly pay

·       Discounted hotel stays

·       Access to ‘My Fuller’s’ – our online benefits platform where you can make savings at 100’s of retailers and access discounted gym memberships, cinema tickets and much more!

·       Healthcare Cash Plan – after 1 years with us you will have access to a 24-hour GP service and the ability to claim your money back for dentist and eyecare appointments - plus many more.

·       Full induction and training

·       Opportunity to grow in your role

·       The option to receive 30% of your earnings as you earn them. This means you won’t need to wait until payday for your money.

A traditional London pub, The George IV is also known as a comedy venue - boasting a comedy club that regularly hosts big-name acts. Expect a busy, diverse crowd on gig nights - and when live sport is showing in the pub.

Are you ready for the pace of a premium pub kitchen?

Join us as a Sous Chef and you’ll be right at the cutting edge of our kitchen’s creativity. You’ll be second in command to the Head Chef, adding your experience and wisdom to the team mix.

Food is a serious business in Fuller’s pubs, so you’ll be working in an advanced kitchen to create fabulous, fresh dishes – using the best of seasonal, local ingredients.

As deputy to the Head Chef, you’ll take full control of the kitchen when they’re away. It’s a great opportunity to make a real impact and prove yourself ready to step up to the Head Chef role.

And you’ll be supported every step of the way by a team of talented chefs, there to make your life a little easier.

You’ll need to be a talented chef with passion for fresh food and a love of kitchen camaraderie. You’ll be able to bring the best out in others – and you’ll take immense pride in every successful service.

A hygiene qualification, excellent food knowledge and food safety awareness are all essential for this role. But we’re interested in your personality and potential too – not just your previous experience.
