About us:

When our guests think about the Green Man they think succulent roasts, roaring fires and the best hearty pub food in town. We are looking passionate and hard working chefs to be the next cog in this well oiled machine. You will be fully supported and trained to reach your career goals with in house skill training in game, fish, pastry and others. You'll have to access to our award winning apprenticeship scheme for CDP to Sous and beyond and be part of a forward thinking and progressive company. This is proper cooking, fresh ingredients, local produce, no short cuts and no sacrifice of quality. A love of cooking, a drive to deliver great food and a willingness to learn are musts for this roll. 

Are you serious about progressing in your culinary career. We are looking for an experienced CDP looking for a clear pathway to Sous Chef via our apprenticeship scheme.

Developing our people is at the heart of everything we do. We’re fortunate enough to run our own apprenticeship programme and have our own state-of-the-art training kitchen, where we host monthly skills workshops to develop junior chefs on understanding the key fundamentals of cookery as well as their business skills to allow for all-rounded individuals of the future.

What we look for in a Sous Chef:

We are looking for an existing Sous Chef or Senior CDP looking for their next step, who considers themselves as a natural leader with a passion and flare for producing quality fresh food in an environment that makes people feel welcome. As the successful Sous Chef you will:

  • Have experience championing excellent service through quality food
  • Demonstrate a passion for leading and developing a team
  • Be an active hands-on Chef with excellent communication skills
  • Be responsible and able to manage the kitchen staff rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Working alongside your Head Chef, you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
  • Demonstrate great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and labour
  • Have a pro-active approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
