Grind is a hospitality company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, the brand has expanded across London with restaurants and café-bars, burning the candle at both ends to serve coffee, food, and cocktails to a killer soundtrack.

We are looking for the next generation of Managers who are passionate about the hospitality industry and progressing their career to join our team. As an Assistant Manager, we expect the usual stuff on a day-to-day basis, running your site in style and supporting your senior management team to meet site targets and team goals. In return our General Manager will invest time and energy towards helping you to push your career to the next stage, whatever that looks like for you.

To be eligible for this role, you will need to demonstrate confidence in leading the Front of House team. You must drive service and sales, and be the constant face of energy and passion on site! We expect at least 1-2 years of experience in restaurant management, strong experience in supporting a busy team, and a 'work with the team' approach/attitude at all times.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Support the management team in the running of a high volume & fast-paced restaurant
  2. Responsible for opening and closing of site in absence of senior Management team
  3. Possess full understanding of GRIND Steps of Service
  4. Deliver exemplary service in line with our procedures
  5. Effectively lead a busy team of Front of House employees
  6. Create daily brief sheets for the Front of House
  7. Help to deliver Front of House training & developing programs to all team members
  8. Support in the recruitment and onboarding of new employees into the business
  9. Motivate all staff and project a positive attitude at all times. 
  10. To participate in regular team meetings and in necessary Management meetings.
  11. To abide by the house rules at all times
  12. Displays a smart and professional appearance, representing the company in a positive manner 

Skills Required:

  • Strong managerial and leadership skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use initiative
  • Ability to problem solve and escalate complaints accordingly
  • Dedicated team-player, who strives for excellence and leads by example 
  • Strong time-management and prioritisation skills
