Description

Location: Elephant & Castle, London. Hybrid, minimum 4 days in the office
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Join the Gymbox Finance team as our Management Accountant, taking ownership of the monthly P&L and balance sheet and turning them into accurate, timely management accounts. You will provide the numbers and insight that feed our budgeting process, keep day-to-day finance operations running smoothly, and act as the go-to finance contact for our club managers.

This is a hands-on role in a multi-site business, ideal for a part-qualified accountant who wants broad exposure and a real impact on how our clubs perform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the P&L and balance sheet, producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts and explaining key movements to the Head of Finance.
  • Prepare and post period-end journals, including accruals and prepayments, and play an active part in the month-end close and day-to-day finance operations.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations each month and ensure reconciling items are investigated and corrected promptly.
  • Provide financial inputs to the annual budget and ongoing forecasts, including actuals, trends and variance analysis, working with the Finance Manager and club operations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for club managers, answering their financial queries clearly and promptly and helping them understand their club’s financial performance.
  • Support the year-end audit, liaising directly with auditors and providing schedules and explanations as required.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Management accounts (P&L and balance sheet) delivered accurately and to the agreed month-end timetable.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations completed monthly, with reconciling items cleared promptly.
  • Club manager queries responded to promptly and to a high standard.
  • Budget inputs delivered on time and accurately.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience working outside of practice in a multi-site company.
  • Experience preparing management accounts, including the P&L and balance sheet.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (e.g. VLOOKUP and SUMIF).
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to support and advise non-finance colleagues such as club managers.

Desirable

  • Experience using NetSuite.
  • A keen interest in the health & fitness, leisure or hospitality industry.

We Offer

  • Participation in development programmes (Host, Hospitality Manager and Club Manager).
  • 25 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays (based on full-time employment).
  • Holiday exchange scheme.
  • Pension plan to support your future.
  • Unlimited access to OpenUp, our mental health and wellbeing partner, for you and your family.
  • Unlimited access to all our first-class clubs for you and a +1.
