Senior Accountant


Description

The Senior Accountant will manage fixed assets, manage our retail inventory under the direction of the Controller, assist in the AP function of the company, and assist with construction accounting. This position will drive outstanding results by completing their tasks promptly in conjunction with the month-end close and having a remarkable ability to work in a team environment and take on ad-hoc projects or assignments. They will be knowledgeable about general accounting practices and business functions and will be preferred to have experience in some accounting roles.  


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Required (Masters Preferred)
  • 2+ years experience in general accounting 
  • Experience with general ledger systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proactive attitude
  • Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements per our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Controller's attention
  • Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with the annual external financial statement audit
  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance
  • Basic treasury functions
  • Managing receivables from restaurant house accounts
  • Maintain the fixed asset register with accurate and timely updates for additions and disposals 
  • Assist the AP Manager with processing approved invoices in the accounting system, correctly processing payments to vendors; ensure intercompany balances are correctly accounted for and effectively managed. 
  • Maintain the retail inventory balances with accurate and timely updates from the Inventory Management System  
  • Assist the Development team with construction project accounting and ad-hoc Development projects relating to purchasing and sale of land, construction costs, and land entitlement 
  • Ensure all accounting data is processed timely, current reconciliations, fixed asset balances, and retail inventory balances are within target, and facilitate the month-end close process with the accounting team.  
  • Adheres to and ensures all employees follow proper policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook 
  • Performs other duties as required by upper management
