HANDEL'S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM is looking for a Catering Manager at our Anderson Mill location in Austin, TX

From making each batch fresh daily to using Alice Handel's original methods and recipes, we’re still sharing our homemade ice cream and serving the communities we love so much one scoop at a time.
What we expect from a CATERING MANAGER
- Positive and friendly engaging energy is what we are looking for in our leaders as example setters to fellow staff AND guests alike
- Must be 18 to apply
- Must have a clean driving record and able to drive while towing a trailer
- Must be able to complete and pass a background check as you will be on various campuses with kids
- Must be able to interact well with kids of all ages and create excitement for our amazing ice cream
- Must have sales skills. You will be interacting with vaarious schools and businesses to sign them up for catering opportunities.
- Must be organized. This job requires you to respond quickly to emails, manage an events calendar, plan ahead, and communicate what is needed to staff.
- Learning the flavor rotation to keep the proper flavors and inventory stocked, cleaning work space and using proper sanitation procedures throughout the day, and following FIFO and other health standards set in place by the health department.
- High level of multitasking comfortability in a fast paced service environment. We have 48 flavors offered every day and 180+ recipes in our books, so we focus heavily on our teams product knowledge and being able to efficiently talk about flavors with our guests.
- Able to problem solve and find positive resolutions to challenging questions, requests, and/or interactions.
- Balanced sense of urgency while still being friendly, engaging, and navigating guests through the menu experience.
- Able to stay on task while completing daily cleaning tasks with a heavy focus on stocking/restocking and side work prioritizing.
- Be able to lift and move at least 50 lbs. and feel comfortable standing, walking, and/or moving for prolonged periods of time with full use of the legs, arms, hands and wrists.
- Comfortable using and maintaining the cleanliness/sanitation of various ice cream serving equipment.
- Familiar with following and serving full menu recipe options and adhering to policies and procedures of a food service environment (ie : sanitation, FIFO product rotation/dating, basic product inventory).
- Able to delegate tasks and duties with staff, always keeping a balance of side work and making sure guests are well taken care of.
- Able to assist in the training process of new and existing staff members.
- Must be able to operate a cash register/credit card/point of sale touchscreen and have cash handling skills.
- Expected to document and assist in the accountability of opening and closing cash registers as well as closing sales deposits.
- Expected to have wide open availability. Your hours will depend on the various catering events that are scheduled.
- Reliability. It is very important for this role to arrive on-time to scheduled shifts/events.
