Hinoki & the Bird is an imaginative dining experience that transports modern California cooking to vibrant new territory. Tucked away at the base of Los Angeles’ exclusive luxury condominium tower, the Century, a subtle curving drive leads to Hinoki’s entrance, a seamless, hidden, polished groove door that opens to a Wonderland-esque passageway. Evoking travels through the Silk Road, the restaurant serves as a sophisticated kaleidoscope, where elevated ingredients (local, seasonal, artisanal) and bright flavors meld harmoniously with healthful sensibility and superb culinary expertise. is hiring for a Food Runner. We are searching for the perfect candidate who can handle the perfect amount of work and react well under pressure. This position will be an hourly wage.

As a Food Runner, your ultimate goal will be to provide our guest with outstanding customer service and actively help to improve their overall dining experience. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:
-Assist customers with their orders by explaining specials, meals, and drinks, and make recommendations.
-Deliver food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner.
-Accurately explain food orders to chefs, with specific attention to allergies and special requests.
-Help the wait staff set up tables by placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, decorations, and napkins.
-Uphold our food health safety and sanitation principles.
-Occasionally check on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues.
-Remove dirty dishes from the table.
-Inform management on customer feedback.

Requirements:
-A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
-High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
-Outstanding communication and people skills.
-Ability to stay professional in a stressful work environment.
-Superb multitasking skills.
-Available to work different hours including weekday nights and weekends.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

-Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time (meal and rest breaks to be taken at proper times)
-Lifting and carrying up to 35 lb. tray, crate or box is occasional, must use property lifting
-Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous
-Carrying over shoulder is occasional
-Hand and elbow movements
-Ability to physically handle knives, pans, pots, or other items as well as grasp, lift and carry same from shelves and otherwise transport up to 35 pounds to every area of the kitchen.
-Ability to perform cutting skills on work surfaces, topped with cutting boards, 3 to 4 feet in height (banquet kitchen, prep kitchen, bake shop, etc.).
-Proper usage and handling of various kitchen machinery to include grinders, mixers, and other kitchen related equipment.
-Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis; must be able to bend to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.
-Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
