Role: Junior Sommelier

Join our Food & Beverage team at Hoar Cross Hall

Do you have a passion for wine, great food and creating memorable guest experiences?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Junior Sommelier to join the Food & Beverage team at Hoar Cross Hall. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has some wine knowledge and wants to develop their skills, broaden their experience and build a career in wine and hospitality.

You’ll work as part of our front-of-house team, helping guests discover wines they’ll love while supporting the smooth running of our restaurant service. Hoar Cross Hall already operates dedicated restaurant, bar and wider Food & Beverage teams, including wine-focused roles.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering warm, knowledgeable and attentive service to our guests
  • Helping guests choose wines to complement their food, tastes and occasion
  • Supporting wine service throughout lunch, dinner and special events
  • Developing your knowledge of our wine list, producers, regions, grape varieties and vintages
  • Preparing wines for service and ensuring they are presented and served correctly
  • Supporting stock management, cellar organisation and wine storage
  • Working closely with the wider restaurant, bar and kitchen teams to create a seamless guest experience
  • Sharing your growing wine knowledge with colleagues and helping build enthusiasm for our wine offering
  • Taking every opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge of wine, food pairing and professional service

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to know everything about wine already. We’re looking for someone with genuine enthusiasm, curiosity and the ambition to learn.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Have previous experience within a restaurant, hotel or hospitality environment
  • Have a genuine interest in wine and food
  • Have some existing wine knowledge; a recognised wine qualification such as WSET Level 2 or 3 would be an advantage
  • Have confidence speaking with guests and making recommendations
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
  • Have a positive, professional and team-focused approach
  • Have a willingness to continue learning and developing your wine knowledge
  • Have flexibility to work across the needs of a luxury hospitality operation, including evenings and weekends

Additional Information

  • Full-Time position, 40 hours per week
  • Working 5 out of 7 days per week
  • £16.83 per hour

What We Offer

  • Work in a picturesque, historic estate with a focus on luxury and high standards in hospitality
  • Complimentary Spa Day on work anniversaries at any of our company spas
  • Free meal provided daily through our staff canteen
