Description

Hotel June is seeking a Food Runner for our two signature outlets and bars. Inspired by the soul and spirit of California, Scenic Route and Caravan Swim Club offer vibrant food and drink for hotel guests and the local community.  Hotel June has partnered with Hospitality guru, Steve Livigni of award-winning Scopa Italian Roots, Dama, Old Lightning and Black Market Liquor Bar to create new food and beverage concepts drawing inspiration along the coast from Baja, MX to Santa Barbara, CA. This ideally located 250-room re-imagined Hotel on the Westside with two restaurants, creative event venues, and a spectacular pool deck is the flagship of a new thoughtful, accessible, lifestyle brand from Proper Hotels.

Job Overview
• Serve orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices from bar and kitchen, delivering accompaniments and condiments from service areas
• Support service and culinary team in satisfying guest needs by taking direction and helping to serve all food items
• Speak eloquently about the hotel, restaurant and menu and be able to describe and pronounce all menu items/ingredients
• Understand the different menu items and the service utensils guests will need when they are ordered, ensure those items are present when delivering food
• Gain insights to guests’ dining preferences through verbal and nonverbal cues
• Be respectful and courteous to all colleagues and guests
• Maintain the ambiance and service standards of the hotel at all times, while on property
• Assist with the preparation of the dining room for service by preparing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, polishing glassware and polishing utensils
• Assist the culinary team in gathering and preparing service pieces
• Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
• Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression
• Coordinate with leadership in the kitchen to ensure guest orders are delivered in an accurate and timely fashion
• Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, maintaining beverage service and being alert to patron spills or other special needs
• Stock and restock service stations as needed

Skills/Knowledge Required
• Experience in a luxury or lifestyle hospitality environment preferred
• Service-oriented and passion for hospitality
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Proactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skills
• Work flexible schedules and willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
• Collaborate with Colleagues cross-departmentally
• Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
• Work cohesively with Colleagues as part of a team
