Catering Sales and Events Manager


Description

Hotel June West LA is seeking a motivated, service-driven Catering Sales & Events Manager to oversee all catering functions throughout our 250-room reimagined property on LA’s West side. Reporting to the Area Director of Sales & Events, this key role will drive top-line catering revenue by maximizing profits within our creative event venues, two F&B outlets and spectacular pool deck.

A combination of both sales strategy and hands-on service, the ideal candidate will be the subject matter expert responsible for executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and upselling amenities within our spaces to propel additional revenue.

Responsibilities: 

  • Negotiate with clients through use of creative and attractive menu presentations and event proposals, to achieve both maximum revenue/profit potential and fulfillment of contractual responsibilities while satisfying client needs
  • Distribute Banquet Event Orders to all appropriate hotel departments to facilitate efficient purchasing, planning, and employee scheduling
  • Communicate group details and changes to all hotel departments, detailing out the customer needs with all departments to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Prospect for new catering business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, community functions, sales blitzes, internet prospecting, entertainment, supplier partnerships, etc. 
  • Maintain an active trace/follow-up system via Delphi (salesforce) and/or Outlook
  • Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of program or event
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities, capacities and dimensions of meeting space and basic operational needs of all operating departments. Understand venue capabilities and limitations of all event spaces facilities to provide resourceful options between client, third party vendors and internal meetings
  • Detail and distribute Weekly Group Resumes to include all necessary manifest details to Operations team
  • Ensure attrition and commissionable rates are communicated with Finance department for proper payment/payout processing 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years hotel catering industry experience preferred
  • Experience with Delphi (salesforce) and HMS is preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Impeccable selling and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to handle difficult situations and guests
  • High level of creativity and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced, client driven environment
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, holidays, weekends and evenings

 Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
