Please note that this salary range is accurate as of July 1st, 2024. It reflects our starting rate ($78,000) as well as the compensation for our most senior employees at this time. All positions will initially be offered at the entry-level rate, with consideration for annual increases based on performance assessments.

Busboys and Poets is seeking an ambitious, hardworking, people-centric individual with proven experience managing across departments as a General Manager. In this fast-paced, dynamic work environment, you will deliver training to our diverse staff, as well as managing the overall operation and being an expert in guest relations. Starting Salary: $78,000-$85,000
JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain high level of performance and hospitality at all times, leading by example
- Train new managers and develop current management team, focusing on both emotional intelligence and technical skills
- Conduct weekly management meetings
- Provide effective and consistent feedback/coaching to all hourly and management staff
- Build and maintain positive trusting relationships with your team
- Monitor budgets and audit payroll records
- Assign and coach managers in their department duties
- Review schedules prior to posting
- Hold the team accountable by way of Progressive Counseling (PC) and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP)
- Conduct interviews and hire new employees
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the space
- Order and purchase equipment and supplies
- Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs, and coordinate services such as waste removal and pest control
- Maintain solid cash-handling and make bank deposits
- Serve as the lead in monitoring compliance with health and fire regulations
- Implement training programs for new hires with help from the Training Team
- Resolve employee concerns or complaints by partnering with HR
- Serve and excel in all FOH Manager duties
- Liaison with the Back of House managers to see that the kitchen is running efficiently
- Perform some food preparation or service tasks such as cooking, clearing tables, and serving food and drinks, when necessary
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:
- Uphold highest standards of respect and compassion with both guests and staff
- Serve as the example of integrity being honest in all interactions/forms
- Report any concerns of harassment, violence in the workplace, sexual harassment or discrimination to HR immediately
- Maintain a boundary of professionalism between yourself and your teams, avoiding personal relationships that could be a conflict of interest
- Follow up on employee concerns, open items and directives, as soon as possible
REQUIREMENTS
- Served as a Front-of-House/Floor Restaurant Manager at a full-service restaurant for at least 5 years and
- High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read manuals and prepare computer reports as required; hospitality and restaurant management certification or college degree preferred
- Strong team-building and communication skills to train and motivate employees
- Excellent customer service, treating guests like family
- Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties
- Strong technical aptitude and computer skills (e.g., Web-based applications, Mobile applications, Excel, Word)
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required
- Ability and commitment to meet deadlines, even during high volume periods
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work that restaurant managers do is both physically and mentally demanding. You are on their feet much of the time. Managers must be able to taste raw and cooked food as well as carry up to 50 pounds, at times. Restaurant managers typically work forty-five to fifty hours a week. However, because the restaurant serves the public and is open on weekends and at night, managers may work longer, irregular hours. Please also note that, as a restaurant manager, you may be asked to change locations, at times.
