Description

We are looking for a Sommelier to oversee our wine menu and offer recommendations on the best pairings. The responsibility of Sommelier includes supervising wine servings, collaborating with vendors to upgrade selections, and providing wine recommendations to guests.As a Sommelier you should demonstrate a friendly personality, strong knowledge of food and wine pairings, and good interpersonal skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Sommelier should understand the wine making process, the ability to create exquisite food and wine pairings, and great customer service.

 What you’ll do:

·         Creating and updating wine lists

·         Making wine recommendations on food and wine pairings.

·         Ensuring that the wine coolers are fully stocked.

·         Informing guests of the variety of wines available.

·         Training staff on available wines.

·         Negotiating prices with vendors.

·         Organizing wine tastings events.

·         Responds promptly to customer concerns

·         Develops strong, productive, professional relationships with internal and external customers

·         Maintains the highest standard of professionalism, ethics and attitude towards customers and team members

·         Maintains par level of equipment and supplies

·         Ensures wine coolers and working areas are clean and always organized

·         Keeps up to date with the latest food menus

·         Assists in maintaining and controlling par stocks

·         Complies with sanitation and safety regulations and standards

·         Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.

·         Take inventory of wine monthly.

·         Comply with all food and beverage regulations.

·         Stay updated on Forbes Travel Service Standards.

·         Perform additional duties as requested by management.

 What we’re looking for:

·         A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with other staff.

·         Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

·         Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.

·         Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

·         Thorough knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits.

·         Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.

·         Follow all company policies and procedures including proper timekeeping and emergency and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

·         High school or equivalent education required.

·         Certificate as a Sommelier or a degree in hospitality role.

·         Extensive knowledge of local vineyards and wineries.

·         An understanding of the wine making process.

·         Available to work weekends.

·         Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits must be “SERV Safe Certified” by the State of Florida.

  • Must be able to work in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind with minimal ventilation and small/enclosed space.
  • Ability to handle equipment, mirrors, or other display items as well as grasp, lift, push/pull and carry same physically and safely from shelves and otherwise transport up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel/restaurant on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill required tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual and finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
