Jibs is opening soon and hiring now! This is the summer job that you always wanted to last forever, and fortunately, it can. Jibs is a New England-style lobster shack (but really so much more) that just happens to be in one of the most iconic spots in New York's Hudson Yards, with views of the Vessel, the Hudson and plenty of outdoor seating. This will be one of the hottest new restaurants to open this year, and we want you to be a part of it. If you're a fan of incredible sunsets, lobster rolls, fried clams, oysters, steamers, fries and ice cream, look no further. We're hiring for all positions - cooks, servers, bussers, managers, bartenders, hosts - and are looking for experienced, smart, dedicated individuals to join our team
If you are passionate about being part of an amazing bar team and are a warm, friendly person who enjoys engaging with guests, we would love to meet you!
- Assist with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
- Ensure bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
- Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, make minor repairs, change out kegs, when needed.
- Keep the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Learn food and beverage menu items and memorize cocktail recipes.
- Take orders, prepare drinks, bus tables, open tabs and process payments especially during peak hours.
- Engage with guests, answer questions, handle complaints.
- Monitor and report levels of usage to assist with reordering.
- Put away and properly store deliveries.
- Experienced in fast paced restaurant bars.
- Minimum age to serve alcohol.
- Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance.
- Knowledge of menu items, including food, beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally.
- Observant and thorough.
- Responsible, punctual.
- Ability to meet physical and scheduling demands of the position, including, walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods and working nights, weekends and holidays.
