KERB’s vision is to create opportunity and joy through great food, from the kerb up. We operate markets, one-off events, workshops, consultancy, bars, a food hall in Central London and have developed a successful corporate catering arm, KERB Events Ltd.


KERB Events Limited is a joint venture with Compass Group UK. As part of this partnership, KERB Events Limited will become the sole F&B provider for this high-profile performance venue in central London, looking after all public-facing catering as well as internal hospitality and commercial events.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION


Reporting to the Executive Head Chef to ensure the kitchen operation is supported in the most efficient way to achieve operational and financial objectives. Supporting the Executive Head Chef with a range of topics such as helping with ordering, working with the Logistics department to ensure accountability, holiday planning and timesheets, rota and resourcing as well as looking after the filing and record keeping.



KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


  • Supporting the Executive Head Chef and the team to deliver consistently and exceed client expectations

  • Assisting with the Kitchen Health and Safety requirements, the recording of allergen information, supporting risk assessments and implementing the necessary changes in line with current legislation and health and safety.

  • Supporting Exec Head Chef by working with HR on the recruitment and management of the flexible and contracted Kitchen team include co-ordinating of agency staffing and initial inductions. This will include holiday planning, appraisals, reviews and inductions

  • Coordinating the training of kitchen staff on all relevant issues, and managing the training folders. This will include ensuring that the kitchen team are all trained to be customer focused, effective in time management, and to be pristine in their appearance both within the kitchen and at events

  • Working closely with Logistics on resource planning for the future, ensuring equipment is available when required

  • Kitchen maintenance and renewals, this will include the identification and installation of equipment, ensuring that sufficient stocks and equipment are stored under the correct conditions and maintenance records are updated regularly

  • Helping Exec Head Chef with detailed food costings, this will include calculating and reporting on what each event should cost, liaising with finance on the actual spend and investigating any discrepancies, producing and following up on invoices

  • Monthly stock takes and input of figures 

  • Supporting with and coordination of day to day kitchen administration, including the sign off and filing of kitchen control forms.

  • Hands on production and service when the kitchen is understaffed.

  • Working closely and effectively with your team to develop a positive, open and inclusive culture around our key values and ethos

  • Responsible for reporting HSE hazards, accidents, incidents, illness and diseases in line with our safety protocols and living the safety first culture, acting as an example at all times

  • Responsible for ensuring we meet all legal and company requirements for fire, health, safety and hygiene

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • At least 6 months experience within a contract catering or commercial events environment

  • Experience of working in a kitchen would be an advantage

  • Strong admin experience including an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel

  • Positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and problem solve

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in from time to time on non-designated areas of the business

  • Outstanding hustle
