KERB Events Limited is a joint venture with Compass Group UK. As part of this partnership, KERB Events Limited will become the sole F&B provider for the National Theatre, looking after all public-facing catering as well as internal hospitality and commercial events.


JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Senior People Manager to take lead on and take ownership of people related processes including recruitment, retention, development and administration of the team within KERB at the National Theatre. The incumbent will ensure that staff of the highest calibre are resourced at all times; there is a requirement to liaise consistently with all operational parties to achieve this. To ensure that all personnel employed by KERB at the National Theatre are trained and developed to deliver the highest standards of service as required by the company. The successful candidate will be employed by KERB Events however they will be expected to regularly engage with stakeholders from both Compass and National Theatre.

This role requires a commitment to employee welfare and the adherence to employment law at all times. The role will be required to drive forward the processes for Management reporting (NT People team), People budget, HRIS system, payroll, compliance, employee relations, benefits, contract updates, apprenticeships, work placements and learning and development initiatives.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

●Supporting with the development and implementation of Employee Handbook and adjacent policies and procedures
●Ensure all of the venue People processes are compliant with employment regulations and oversee that the team onsite act in line with these policies
●Lead the People team to ensure we attract and onboard the best talent and ensuring we have a world class recruitment process and induction programme in place
●Management of the onsite People team (currently People Operations Manager and a People Coordinator), overseeing and delegating work to them as well as developing them
●Management of all stakeholders to include Compass, KERB (you will have a dotted line to KEL Head of People) and NT management and staff
●Management of People budget for KERB @ National Theatre
●Compliance (Right to Work, Health and Safety training)
●Labour cost management & payroll
●Contracts & benefits
●Reward & Recognition
●Management of work placement and apprenticeship schemes
●Having an approachable and engaging personality whilst maintaining the appropriate level of professionalism and tactfulness when handling team member issues
●Identifying the need for new / updated training and development of the team, collaborating with the L&D Manager and on site Operations Managers
●Recognising the necessary procedures, laws and brand culture additions, changes and updates and carrying this out accordingly with the People team.
●Managing and conducting appraisals and meetings with other members of the team
●Handling any disciplinary or grievance processes, complaints and employee issues
●Sustaining a tactful, discreet and calm disposition when trusted with confidential information, disciplinaries and any possible conflicts amongst the team.
●Positive and flexible attitude with the ability to problem solve and think laterally
●Passionate about connecting, creating positive environments and making people happy through new projects, programmes and ideas
●Experience of working with both salaried and variable employees, managing different payrolls and holiday accrual
  

PERSON SPECIFICATION

●CIPD Qualified preferred
Experience of working in contract catering / venue F&B / hospitality is preferred
●At least 3 years experience in a similar role in a fast paced environment would be preferable
●A real understanding of the importance of staying organised in order to exceed expectations and meet deadlines
●Be able to manage own time, prioritising and juggling multiple projects within deadlines- delivering on all of the above
●Strong attention to detail
●High level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism with handling sensitive data and information
●Experience of working as part of a busy People department
●Here to help attitude- we are better as a team
●Positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and problem solve
●Be willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in from time to time on non-designated areas of the business
