About the Role
As Second Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in supporting the kitchen leadership team and ensuring smooth service in a busy, fast‑paced environment. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to:
Prepare and deliver fresh, high‑quality dishes across all sections
Contribute ideas to daily specials and seasonal menu development
Lead the kitchen team during service when senior chefs are off‑duty
Maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards
Support stock control, ordering, and GP management
Train and mentor junior chefs to build a strong, motivated team
This is a hands‑on role ideal for a chef who thrives in a high‑volume setting and wants to grow their skills in leadership, creativity, and kitchen management.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in fresh‑food kitchens, ideally at gastro pub or restaurant level
Confident running sections independently during busy services
Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
Passionate about seasonal cooking and eager to contribute ideas
A team player with strong communication skills
Ambitious and ready to step up when needed
