Role Overview 

Lobster Place, Inc. is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and professional Human Resources Generalist and Recruiter (HRGR) to join our dynamic team. The HRGR will report directly to the HR Business Partner and provide administrative support to the Human Resources Function. The successful candidate will have experience in a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is hungry to own their role and thrives while working independently on projects yet values a team atmosphere and a collaborative environment. 

This role is an in-office five days a week position, ideally Tuesday through Saturday, four days a week working out of the Chelsea Market location and one day a week working at the LP Warehouse in Hunts Point 

 

Job Responsibilities 

Human Resources Support  

  • Serves as the primary HR contact for workforce, acting as gatekeeper to the Lobster Place HR Function. 

  • Support HR Function in the administration of full employee lifecycle. 

  • Manages benefits enrollment and administration for various programs. (i.e., Transit, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k and Pension, Life, etc.) 

  • Oversees and administers leave programs, including FMLA, PFL, and company-specific leave policies. 

  • Supports the company-wide annual open enrollment process, ensuring effective communication and employee participation. 

  • Cross-trains with Payroll Team to be the backup payroll admin.  

  • Maintains accurate employee records and administers the HRIS platform, including personnel files and HR databases. 

  • Processes employee related documents, including employment contracts, status changes, and termination documents, etc.  

  • Performs safety and compliance reporting including workmen’s comp, MVR, OSHA, and driver safety monitoring, contributing to a safe and compliant work environment. 

  • Ensures all HR administrative practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws  

  • Engages in continuous learning and improvement of HR processes and systems, including HRIS administration and payroll support, to enhance efficiency and employee experience. 

  • Supports the HR Business Partner and VP, Chief People Officer in various HR initiatives and tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. 

Recruitment and Onboarding 

  • Leads and executes comprehensive recruitment strategies for non-exempt positions, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and culture. 

  • Collaborates with HR Business Partner and hiring managers to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and manage open positions. 

  • Utilizes Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for efficient resume screening, phone screenings, scheduling interviews, and managing candidate communication throughout the recruitment process. 

  • Organizes and follows up on candidate trails, providing feedback to both candidates and hiring managers. 

  • Ensures a respectful and communicative process for all candidates, including prompt follow-up with those not selected. 

  • Manages the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires, including executing onboarding checklists, new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment, employee orientation, and setting up profiles in ADP Workforce Now. 

  • Coordinates with line managers to schedule and deliver orientation presentations and new hire check-ins, ensuring new hires are well-integrated into the company culture, have completed skills training, and are informed about policies and procedures. 

  • Partners with HR Business Partner to implement staff succession planning and engage in passive recruiting to build a robust talent pipeline. 


Job Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree.  

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.   

  • Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience. 

  • Foodservice/Hospitality industry experience preferred.  

  • 1-3 years' experience using ADP WorforceNow or similar HRIS platform.  

  • Proficiency with HRIS Administration. 

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.  

  • Strong Emotional Intelligence.  

  • Comfortable with on-site, employee-facing duties 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • Ability to be physically present on-site to engage staff in all worksites, including warehouse, office, restaurant, market, and kitchen.  

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.  

  • Must be able to climb stairs. 

 

Pay and Benefits 

  • $75,000 - $85,000 salary.
