Digital Transformation Data Analyst

Mitchells and Butler’s continues at pace with our digital and data evolution. So, it’s a perfect time to join us as a Digital Transformation Data Analyst, in our Digital Transformation Team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the Senior Product Manager you will support the Digital Transformation team and overall, Mitchells and Butlers portfolio in achieving its commercial goals and objectives. You’ll work closely with the Product team, Director of Digital Transformation and analysts in the Marketing team to provide digital, guest, product analytics, insight and reporting. We are looking for a confident presenter that is comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders, a self-starter with a curious nature who is forthcoming with ideas to run and improve our reporting, analytics and insight ability. This role has a hybrid working week of 2 days in the office and 3 days at home.

What you’ll be doing in this Digital Transformation Data Analyst role…

  • On a weekly and six-weekly cadence, carry out mission critical performance reporting.
  • Owning the weekly reporting call as a platform to personally shine and tell the product performance “story” bringing in the broader M&B context.
  • Responding in a timely manner, whilst managing other priorities, to product manager queries and asks to be reflected in the weekly and six-weekly report.
  • Creating actionable insights to support strategic decisions for Product Development, Digital and Data transformation programmes and distribute in a variety of formats back to key stakeholders
  • Developing, maintaining, and evolving dashboards which track performance of key workstreams
  • Confident in presenting data and being able to tell the story in a way that is easy to understand.
  • Supporting in the development of new reporting solutions in addition to delivery and enhancement of existing reporting
  • Be the reporting and analytics representative in the scoping and measurement of new Digital Transformation initiatives.
  • Working with the Senior Product Manager and Product Manager to discuss and align on reporting and data requirement priorities based on business need, value, data availability and accessibility.
  • Developing a technical understanding of data and technology systems accessible to M&B including (but not limited to) Dynatrace, SQL databases, Google Analytics, Treasure Data, Braze, Azure Cloud Platform.
  • Utilising tools such as, Google Analytics, will be part of your role to analyse web and app data. Also working with the product team making sure all website changes and updates are tracked accordingly.
  • Creating and maintaining a strong set of accessible documentation that supports the reporting and analysis you carry out.
  • Developing and growing a pipeline of self-serve dashboards for end users to subscribe to and find their own insights
  • Delivering an ever-evolving timetable of knowledge sharing calls or meetings to help Product, Marketing and other teams who may be interested, better understand the M&B data landscape and the information that’s available.
  • Understanding of data protection including GDPR and PECR to ensure compliant processing of data
  • Conducting analysis of multi-channel data sources to build greater understanding of customers and identify business opportunities.
  • Supporting ongoing data tasks, issue investigation and resolution.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop projects data from a variety of sources to measure business results and inform programmed development.
  • Working with Senior Product managers, Digital Director, Data Quality Manager, Data Steward, and Data Analysts across M&B


What you’ll need to bring to this Digital Transformation Data Analyst role…

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong consumer insight skills.
  • A self-starter with a curious nature to find out about data sources from colleagues; get access to it and create pipelines to curate what is needed to enable your analysis
  • Able to follow an established reporting process and evolve it as per the need of the Product Team and Director of Digital Transformation.
  • An operational mindset used to working in a fast-paced, ever-changing retail environment
  • Highly numerate and enjoys keeping up with latest digital/data innovation trends. 
  • Advanced SQL querying skills to extract, manipulate and model data
  • Able to create and modify SQL stored procedures
  • Data warehousing, Customer Data Platform, and data lake knowledge with the ability to grasp complex relational models
  • Business intelligence and dashboard experience using Power BI (preferred)
  • Experience in web analytics using Google Analytics, Google Analytics 4 and Big Query would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Python/R for automation or data analytics desirable
  • Advanced user of Excel with the ability to write complex formula’s
  • Experience of propensity/segmentation modelling desirable
  • Experience working with digital marketing desirable
  • Good communicator with the ability to support on complex projects with many stakeholders.
