Description

Are you an experienced coach with strong stakeholder relationships? Due to internal progression, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR business partner or business coach to join our Pubs division team, supporting and enhancing the skills of General Managers, on a twelve month fixed term contract.

We are at the heart of hospitality, and with over 1,700 managed sites we’re the home of some of the nation’s favourite restaurants, bustling bars, cosy country pubs and the local you didn’t know we owned.  If you’re as passionate about hospitality as we are, we want to hear from you!

As Retail Capability Partner you will successfully and pro-actively provide coaching across our businesses, alongside three other Retail Capability Partners and a People Partner. Within your role you will enhance the skills of the General Managers to drive sales through the development of their people, support General Managers to ensure all new team members receive a full and robust induction, drive engagement and retention, and ensure there is a strong management succession pipeline in place, to in-turn, drive an improvement in performance against key business and HR people metrics.

As an expert coach, you will be aligned to Pubs Division, reporting into our Head of People, and your priorities will be focused on the people requirements of Pubs division. In your working week, you would be visiting our restaurants across the division and travelling for up to three days across a geography stretching across South Birmingham to London and the South-East. This is a mobile role with diverse working weeks; therefore, you will need to have a highly flexible approach to travel and overnight stays and a driving license is essential.

You’ll be well rewarded…

  • Company Car or Car Allowance.
  • Flexible working – to work around the other important things in life.
  • Love eating out? You'll love it even more with a massive 33% discount across all our brands, so whether it’s date night at Miller & Carter or family roast at Toby Carvery we’ve got you covered.  What’s more, you can also choose FIVE of your nearest and dearest and sign them up to 20% family and friend’s discount.
  • Never a dull moment - fun, laughs and lifelong friends!

On top of all this, we offer; a pension, 26 days paid holiday, high-street shopping discounts; and we even give you free shares! There's also a free employee helpline to support you with whatever life throws at you.

The Opportunity – Retail Capability Partner

In this role you will operate as a divisionally aligned resource, working with the Retail Capability Manager and Head of People to define and implement activity which supports the Division in addressing the following key objectives:

  • Coaching General Managers to support improvements in sales culture and developing a sales focused team.
  • Coaching General Managers to understand and identify opportunities in the service profit chain.
  • Coaching General Managers to build capability as an organisational priority.
  • Ensuring consistent inductions fully equip our management teams to develop the capability of their people.
  • Driving internal succession to improve the quality and quantity of capable appointments.
  • Developing the district trainer network to enable them to drive the people agenda.
  • Embedding the Internal talent management process and promote the importance of regular development catch-ups.

What you’ll need to bring to the Capability Partner role:

  • Robust coaching skills that you are able to demonstrate within your professional career.
  • Experience of coaching to improve performance and general management/leadership skills.
  • Experience of managing the requirements and expectations of a wide population of stakeholders.
  • High level of interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Resilience.
  • Personal impact and credibility at management level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in operating within a large matrix organisation.
