Description

Are you passionate about ensuring Mitchells & Butlers sites are operating safely and legally? We are offering a 12‑month fixed‑term contract for a Safety Technician position based in the Midlands.


In this role your main objective is to support the Safety Team in identifying and prioritising all safety risks facing the company and ensuring they are effectively and efficiently managed by carrying out site visits within the specified geography. Reporting into our Food Safety Manager, you will be in a mobile role operating across the designated geographical area specified.

What will I be doing…?

The role of a Safety Technician is varied and rewarding, and includes:

Providing targeted support to poor performing businesses, brands and/or districts and this will include:

  • Identifying high risk businesses using EHO, Pest Contractor, Operational Practice Managers, Area Building Managers and NSF reports and Area Manager communication
  • Completing unannounced visits, supporting/coaching visits and delivering corrective training where required. Completing follow up visits as required
  • Investigating Alleged Allergen incidents
  • Investigating Alleged Foreign Body reports as required
  • Preparing reports for distribution
  • Capturing the learning’s from accidents for application across the Company
  • Investigating alleged food poisonings

Food Trading tasks which include:

  • Liaising with Food Development Managers of aligned brands to ensure that any safety risks are identified early in the menu development process
  • Ensuring that HACCP is applied to all recipes and processes
  • Communicating and building relationships with Local authorities by acting as the first point of contact for Enforcement Officers/ Local Authorities and liaising with the Safety Team to ensure all correspondence is responded to


What do I need…?

Just like our brands, our teams are diverse. You’ll have/be…

  • A good understanding of food safety and health and safety policies and practices, with an exemplary record of performance in EHO/ NSF ratings where relevant
  • A sound practical knowledge of the mechanics of a working in a kitchen
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, sometimes in difficult situations
  • Confidence to deal and communicate with people of different levels and abilities
  • Full UK driving license is required
