Construction Project Manager (Building Development Manager) - Castle Pubs

Develop your career delivering investment projects across one of the UK's most characterful pub estates.

Are you an experienced Construction Project Manager or Building Development professional looking for a client-side role where you'll have real influence over a diverse property portfolio?

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their project delivery experience, deepen their commercial and technical capability and build a long-term career within one of the UK's leading hospitality businesses.

At Mitchells & Butlers, we're investing in our Castle Pubs estate, a collection of characterful pubs that sit at the heart of communities across the UK. For a construction professional, this offers the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of buildings where every project presents a different challenge and no two sites are the same.

As a Construction Project Manager (known internally as a Building Development Manager), you'll lead refurbishment, conversion and asset enhancement projects from concept through to completion. Working across buildings with differing ages, layouts and operational requirements, you'll develop expertise in navigating complex stakeholder environments, balancing commercial objectives with technical considerations, and delivering high-quality projects that drive long-term value.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to Head of Building Development – City Division, you'll manage multiple capital investment projects across the Castle Pubs estate.

You'll:

  • Lead refurbishment, conversion, acquisition, growth and asset enhancement projects.
  • Deliver projects safely, on budget, to programme and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage projects through all stages of the lifecycle, from feasibility and scope development through to handover and final account.
  • Identify commercially effective design and construction solutions that maximise return on investment.
  • Build strong working relationships with operational, property and finance stakeholders.
  • Manage and influence consultants, contractors and suppliers to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with planning, statutory, health & safety and CDM requirements throughout project delivery.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in a Construction Project Management, Building Surveying or Building Development role.
  • A strong track record of delivering multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Experience managing project budgets, programmes and contractor performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of construction legislation, statutory approvals and health & safety requirements.
  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, retail or multi-site property environments would be advantageous.
  • A full UK Driving Licence and with a strong presence in London and other major urban locations, this role requires regular travel across your region to effectively manage projects and build strong stakeholder relationships.

What's In It For You?

  • Company Car, or allowance
  • Annual Bonus Scheme
  • Pension Plan
  • 26 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and the option to buy up to 15 additional days
  • Private Medical Insurance with family cover
  • Flexible working
  • Sharesave Scheme
  • 33% discount across all Mitchells & Butlers brands, plus 20% discount for friends and family Monday to Thursday
