As we continue with our successful re-established Capital Programme and increased focused on our investment in electric kitchens to support our Sustainability Strategy. We have a unique and exciting opportunity within our Property Development Team for a permanent Kitchen Design Manager. If you’re as passionate about making a difference within hospitality as we are, we want to hear from you!


Working in a mobile role, you will be required to travel nationwide, partnering with a wider internal Kitchen design team, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of safe, ergonomic, and commercially sound kitchen designs for kitchens across our overall estate and across a variety of our brands in support of the Capital Plan and Business requests across several departments.


As Kitchen Design Manager, you will continuously and effectively provide and support our front-line teams with the opportunity to deliver the best guest experience in an environment they are proud to work in. Drawing on your professional experience, you will build and maintain successful key stakeholder relationships to enable the effective delivery of kitchen investments.

What will I be doing?

  • Designing best practice kitchen proposals based on Ideal Kitchen Templates for each project based on a brief and delivered following safe working practices, within budget, to correct quality and to programme.  
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operators, Building Development Managers, External Project Team to include external Kitchen Contractors and other key MAB stakeholders regarding kitchen projects by phone, email, virtual or face to face meetings.
  • Managing your diary and workload effectively to attend all Capital Plan meetings either on site with all relevant information, prepare for Operator reviews or 4 weekly project reviews with Lead Kitchen Development manager.
  • Supporting MAB’s Sustainability Strategy through key objectives to include incorporating the successful reuse and recycling Kitchen Equipment programme in day to day working and electrification of our Kitchens.   
  • Proactively support Company wide innovation through equipment innovation, design principles and assist with Annual Ideal Kitchen Template review in line with departmental objectives.

 

What do I need?

Just like our brands, our teams are diverse. You’ll need... 

  • Operational experience and knowledge of Commercial Kitchen Design & Ergonomics.
  • Previous experience working with the hospitality industry and/or pub and restaurant chef experience, highly desirable
  • Clear and concise methods of communication and presentation.
  • The ability to deal with multiple tasks at any one time and to hit deadlines.
  • High degree self-motivation
  • Ideally experience in Project Management
  • Understanding of food safety legislation .
  • Ability to influence and manage expectations at business and senior management level
  • Knowledge of construction and building legislation, technologies and ventilation would be advantageous.
  • Strong drive for problem solving and driven for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient basic computer skills with some more advanced required related to design would be beneficial.
