The Pastry Cook role is ideal for a detail-oriented culinary professional who takes pride in precision, consistency, and presentation. This position supports the dessert program within a fine-dining kitchen and offers hands-on experience working alongside senior culinary leadership while contributing directly to the quality and flow of service.

Job Summary

The Pastry Cook is responsible for supporting daily kitchen operations through the preparation, execution, and presentation of desserts and select food items in accordance with our fine-dining standards. 

Working closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and kitchen team, this role ensures stations are properly stocked and prepared for service, executes recipes with precision, and maintains strict quality, timing, and sanitation standards to support smooth and professional service execution

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and stock assigned stations with all necessary ingredients, tools, and supplies.
  • Prepare food items for service, including chopping, portioning, and preparing sauces and components.
  • Execute desserts and plated items using proper techniques, including basic pastry and piping skills.
  • Cook and finish menu items in coordination with the kitchen team to ensure consistent quality and timing.
  • Ensure all dishes are completed simultaneously, meet presentation standards, and are served on time.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas throughout the shift.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food products in accordance with safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory stocking and ensure adequate product levels for smooth service.
  • Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and handling regulations.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to prepare a variety of desserts and food items using professional kitchen equipment.
  • Strong understanding of standard portion sizes, recipes, cooking methods, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of proper plate presentation and attention to visual detail.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including all surfaces and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in a fine-dining or upscale restaurant environment preferred.
  • Availability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of assigned shifts.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Requires manual ability to use, carry, and operate all necessary equipment 
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  •  Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 45 pounds.
