Senior Accountant/ Assistant Controller


Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain the fixed asset register for all locations with accurate and timely updates for additions and disposals.
  • Assist the AP Manager with processing approved invoices in the accounting system and correctly processing payments to vendors; ensure intercompany balances are accounted for and managed effectively.
  • Reconcile and record sales that are imported from the restaurant point-of-sale system.
  • Assist the Development team with construction project accounting and ad-hoc development projects relating to purchasing and sale of land, construction costs, and land entitlement.
  • Ensure all accounting data is processed timely, reconciliations are current, fixed asset balances and retail inventory balances are within target, and facilitate the month-end close process with the accounting team.
  • Prepare and maintain lease schedules.
  • Prepare sales tax files for the sales tax firm.
  • Prepare and file the annual personal property tax per state.
  • Help with the annual audit.
  • Work with the Brand Controller and Director of Finance as needed.
  • Be an active and engaged participant at the table by bringing ideas, suggestions, and solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working in accounting, specifically
  • Managing fixed assets
  • Managing inventory and accounts receivable
  • Assisting in the AP function of the company
  • Recording sales
  • Experience with construction accounting is not required but is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures
  • Possess a strong ability to work in a team environment and apply a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite, specifically, Outlook and Excel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Required: Accounting degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or working towards an accounting degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in accounting.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

The position requires qualified individuals to see, hear, and speak (verbally and audibly). Required to ascend and descend stairs; sit and stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and kneel. May be required to work outside in various weather conditions. May be required to work on a computer for extended periods of time, including viewing the screen, using a mouse, manipulating a keyboard with hands, and reaching with arms. May be asked to drive or travel by car, air, or other transportation for business purposes. Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced working environment. Must be able to report to work responsive, free from sedatives, and in a non-sedative state. Must disclose prescribed and/or over-the-counter pharmaceuticals that may impair or affect the ability to perform the job's essential functions. Natural and regular stressors occur on the job.
