Position OverviewAs the Assistant Director of
Finance at Montcalm Collection you will oversee and guide the financial
operations across our group of hotels in London. Reporting to Director of
Finance, this role focuses on providing strategic oversight, ensuring financial
accuracy, and fostering a culture of strong financial performance and
compliance. The ideal candidate will combine leadership skills with a hands-on
ability to mentor and inspire a team while delivering insightful financial
support to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Supervise and monitor day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all areas.
· Provide high-level oversight and support for a team of accounting professionals, ensuring the timely delivery of financial accounts and operational finance guidance to the hotels.
· Offer financial advice and strategic support to stakeholders and hotel managers to aid in decision-making and business planning.
· Maintain and enforce a rigorous financial control and reporting environment, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
· Review and approve consolidated management accounts, offering feedback and guidance to the team to maintain accuracy and reliability.
· Chair weekly credit and payroll review meetings, collaborating with hotel managers and management accountants to align on priorities and ensure compliance.
· Oversee the preparation of detailed hotel forecasts, cultivating a culture of precision in expense and payroll tracking to ensure profit objectives are met.
· Support the Director of Finance in shaping financial SOPs and ensuring their effective implementation across the organisation.
· Regularly assess and enhance financial control procedures to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
· Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all intercompany accounts are reconciled and discrepancies resolved promptly.
· Lead regular Balance Sheet reviews, ensuring accounts are supported by proper backups, variances are explained, and findings are communicated to the Director of Finance.
· Champion the development of management accountants through mentorship and performance reviews, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
· Build strong relationships with the Senior Leadership team, providing financial expertise to influence and support key decisions.
· Serve as the system administrator for accounting systems, ensuring smooth operation and updates as needed.
· Facilitate monthly finance meetings with management accountants to discuss progress, challenges, and strategic priorities.
· Oversee the budgeting process, ensuring timely and accurate completion in partnership with the Director of Finance.
· Ensure compliance with Finance SOPs by maintaining a robust internal control framework.
· Direct and support the annual audit process for all hotels.
· Provide high-level supervision of Capex reconciliations across the portfolio, addressing any anomalies or opportunities for improvement.
· Oversee the timely preparation and filing of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications:
· A relevant hospitality finance qualification or part-qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) or qualified-by-experience.
· Extensive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role, ideally within the hospitality industry.
· Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
· Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage and inspire teams.
· Proficiency in financial management systems. Knowledge of Sage Intact, Adaco and Opera is a plus.
· Adept at balancing strategic priorities with operational oversight in a dynamic environment.
