Overview

The Accounts Assistant provides essential day-to-day support to the Finance team across a cluster of Montcalm Collection hotels. This role is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting both financial reporting and operational finance functions.

Working closely with the Cluster Management Accountant and the wider finance team, the Finance Assistant plays a key role in ensuring timely data entry, reconciliations, and compliance with group policies and financial controls.

Key Responsibilities 

·Process purchase invoices and credit notes, ensuring appropriate coding, authorisation, and posting.

·Assist with preparation of supplier payment runs, remittances, and reconciliation of supplier statements.

·Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments, and payroll-related entries.

·Maintain accurate records for petty cash, expenses, and credit card reconciliations..

·Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and key ledger accounts.

·Support preparation of monthly management accounts with relevant schedules.

·Assist in gathering data and supporting documents for budgets and forecasts.

·Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve finance-related queries.

·Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documents in both physical and digital formats.

·Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to queries.

·Adhere to company financial procedures and contribute to maintaining internal controls.

·Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and process optimisation.

Skills & Qualifications

•Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience

•2–3 years’ experience in a finance role within the hospitality industry

•Sound knowledge of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow management

•Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems (Sage, Opera, Sun, PMS, etc.)

•High attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy

•Strong interpersonal and communication skills

•Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work across multiple properties

•Prior experience in a cluster or multi-property environment is advantageous

Working Condition

•Based across Montcalm Collection Head office in London

•Full-time position; flexibility required during month-end, audits, and budgeting periods

•Office-based with regular travel between hotels and head office as required.
