Position: Head Pastry Chef
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Schedule: 5 days a week (Afternoon–Evening Shifts)
Location: Muriel’s Kitchen, National Gallery, Central London

Muriel’s Kitchen is fast-paced café in the iconic National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. We are celebrated for handcrafted pastries, seasonal cakes, and sweet treats – all made with local, seasonal ingredients.

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Head Pastry Chef to lead our pastry production. This is a production-only role with no à la carte service, focused on preparing a wide variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts for the following day’s service. Working hours start in the afternoon and run into the evening, offering a steady and structured kitchen environment.

The Right Candidate Will Be:

  • Passionate about baking and pastry arts
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to consistency and quality
  • Organised and able to manage production schedules efficiently
  • Confident in working independently
  • Creative, adaptable, and excited by seasonal menu planning
  • Calm under pressure with a hands-on approach

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee the daily production of pastries, cakes, and sweet treats
  • Maintain high presentation and quality standards across all items
  • Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety regulations are strictly followed
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and management on menu development and planning
