Located in the heart of Mayfair, The Arts Club is one of London’s oldest private members’ clubs and home to a community of members with a passion for the creative arts, literature, and business. From distinguished art exhibitions to fine dining, live music, and an exceptional programme of events for members, the club remains at the heart of contemporary cultural life in London.

About the role

The role of the Assistant Manager will be to ensure the smooth running of Ofelia while maximising operational efficiency during lunch and dinner. They will oversee the department and assist the General Manager to organise and deliver a plan for operations and administration.  

In a nutshell:

  • To effectively monitor training and development for new members of the team 
  • To continually review and promote the training and development of all departmental personnel through effective performance reviews and clearly defined skills training
  • Attend weekly HOD, Events meetings and pass relevant information to your team whilst the General Manager is on annual leave
  • To be fully accountable for operational payroll and ensure that any projected excess to budget/forecast is authorised by the COO whilst the General Manager is on annual leave
  • To ensure that an effective structure of communication is maintained at all times to ensure that team are fully informed of all relevant information pertaining to their role
  • Actively engage with guests, providing personalized service and ensuring their needs are met with warmth and professionalism
  • Monitor service quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction, addressing any issues proactively

  About you:

  • A hands-on approach with a ‘can-do’ spirit
  • Must be proactive with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy
  • Ability to find creative solutions while taking ownership for all duties and tasks assigned
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Copes well with pressure and changes to the working environment 
  • Prepared to work in challenging and demanding situations which may be beyond normal areas of responsibility 

 Other Key Skills:

  • Engages with guests and team members in a warm and friendly manner 
  • Experience in high-volume restaurants or private members' club
  • Takes ownership and demonstrates an understanding of enquiries/ requests
  • Is highly motivated and motivational to those around them
