JOB PURPOSE
Premier Foods is a leading wholesale produce company based within New Covent Garden Market dealing with fresh and frozen deliveries throughout the UK. We are looking to employ two driven professionals within our wholesale division. Working within the operational team you will provide quality inspections both on intake and departure of customer specific requirements, taking responsibility for the quality deliveries our customers are demanding.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct routine inspections of fresh produce products at various stages of the picking process to assess quality, appearance, and adherence to specifications. • Perform quality control tests, including but not limited to visual inspections, sensory evaluations, and measurements of key attributes such as size, colour, texture, and flavour. • Identify and report product defects, non-conformities, or safety hazards to relevant stakeholders and take appropriate corrective actions as needed. • Collaborate with teams across the business to address quality issues and implement corrective and preventive measures to improve product quality and consistency. • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the quality control area to prevent contamination and ensure food safety. • Conduct regular audits of picking processes, facilities, and equipment to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards. • Provide training and guidance to operational staff on quality control procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements. • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and quality of incoming raw materials and ingredients to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. • Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to continuously improve product quality and safety.

The jobholder will be expected to maintain close and effective personal working relationships at all levels of the organisation. The communication skills required include the ability to communicate complex, sensitive and contentious information.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in the fresh produce industry. • Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices. • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately assess product quality and identify defects. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced production environment. • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed, especially during peak operational periods. • Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GFSI) is a plus.

We require two team members to work a rotating day/nights shift pattern on a two-week rota.
Night Shift 2300-0800 Sun- Thurs
Mid Shift 1100-2000 Mon- Frid
