As Assistant Bar Manager, you’ll work side by side with the Bar Manager to oversee the daily running of a vibrant, high-volume bar. You’ll be a natural leader, a confident communicator, and a hands-on operator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves creating memorable moments for guests.

What's in it for you as an Assistant General Manager:

  • 50% off food and drink in our venues for a table of up to 4 people.
  • Delicious staff meals on shift (venue teams only).
  • Growing your family? Enjoy enhanced maternity and paternity pay once you've been with us for a year.
  • Access to Stream, a financial wellbeing platform, helping you manage, save and access up to 50% of your earnings in advance of payday.
  • Be recognised as Employee of the Month across the group and win a £150 meal for two.
  • Career progression opportunities, ongoing training to develop yourself personally and professionally.
  • 24/7 Health and Wellbeing support, access support lines anytime for your mental, physical and financial health.
  • Earn more with our employee referral scheme.
  • Access to Benefits platform with hundreds of discounts on shopping, gym memberships, holidays, bars, restaurants + more.
  • Every penny of service charge goes to the people who work in our venues and eligible roles.

What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Bar Manager:

  • Support the Bar Manager in overseeing daily bar operations, ensuring smooth, efficient and high-quality service.
  • Recruit, train and inspire a high-performing bar team, sharing your knowledge of spirits, wine, beer and cocktails.
  • Maintain the highest standards of drinks quality, presentation and consistency across every shift.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, cellar management and regular stocktakes to keep the bar running at its best.
  • Control costs and margins, working towards GP and revenue targets.
  • Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and responsible service of alcohol.
  • Contribute ideas to drinks menus, seasonal serves and promotions that enhance the guest experience and drive sales.
  • Act as a visible leader on the floor, building relationships with guests and handling feedback professionally.
  • Take the lead on running the bar in the Bar Manager’s absence.

About you, our new Assistant Bar Manager:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Bar Manager, Bar Supervisor, Head Bartender or similar.
  • Ideally you will have previous experience in premium bars, cocktail bars or high-end venues.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage and develop a diverse team.
  • Positive and friendly attitude, with a willingness to work collaboratively with the team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
  • A passion for great drinks and for creating a positive experience for guests.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

About Us:

Public House Group is a collection of pubs and restaurants across London and the Cotswolds. Our journey began with The Pelican, setting the tone for everything that followed. Each of our venues champions the very best of the UK, from responsibly sourced meats and seasonal vegetables to a carefully curated selection of wines and spirits. At the heart of what we do is a commitment to craftsmanship, provenance and authenticity. We work closely with farmers, growers and suppliers who share our values, ensuring that every dish and every drink reflects quality, integrity and care.

As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: to create spaces that feel both timeless and contemporary, where guests experience honest food, thoughtful service and a genuine connection to British produce.
