JOB SUMMARY
Ensure timely and effective implementation of all Red Ribbon (U.S.A.), Inc. policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the safety and quality of Red Ribbon products. Maintains a close working relationship with department managers and supervisors in ensuring operations comply with best practices for food safety and quality.

 KEY RESULT AREA

  • Supervise and direct the activities of Quality Assurance technicians who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety and quality-related policies to meet product standards.
  • Participate in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards, to comply with all applicable regulations (international, national, state, and local) and to conform with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF)
  • Follow up with implemented programs (cGMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility
  • Responsible for documentation, control, and maintenance of the food safety system including procedures, records, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls (HARPC)
  • Conduct or assist in GMP and HACCP training for plant personnel.
  • Perform internal audits to assess the compliance of the company with cGMPs and all applicable regulations
  • Audit quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Periodic review and validation of QA Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities
  • Annual skills verification of QA technicians on testing protocols
  • Assist in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate release, hold, and rejection of these materials, ingredients, and products
  • Assist in daily product evaluation to identify possible defects and provide direction for improvement
  • Communicate concerns and requirements with co-manufacturer and suppliers
  • Responsible for assuring materials are received from Red Ribbon approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring. Oversee Supplier Approval program.
  • Assist in investigating non-conformances and customer complaints and implementing corrective/ preventive actions through collaboration with other departments
  • Work to reduce customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site using root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Ensure good performance of quality assurance technicians/auditors by coaching, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations
  • Make proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to the Quality Assurance and
  • Production Management to improve quality and work efficiency
  • Participates in physical bakeshop/ supplier inspections and report findings related to pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings
  • Perform other duties as directed by Quality Assurance Manager

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.) or sufficient experience in the food industry
  • 3 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience and at least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • HACCP Trained
  • Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
