Description
Celebrated New York institution with an international reputation is in need of a full-time backserver (busser/runner) to start immediately.
Candidates for assistant server should have:
- At least one year of experience working in a fast-paced New York City restaurant.
- Ability and confidence to speak with guests in English.
- A positive, teamwork-oriented attitude.
- The ability to stay cool under pressure, and to work quickly and efficiently.
- Physical ability to be on his/her feet for up to 8 hours, and to carry moderately heavy objects.
- Flexible availability for days, evenings, and weekends.
Responsibilities include:
- Check food coming from the kitchen to make sure everything is correct, and then run it to tables.
- Explain dishes to guests and answer basic questions.
- Set up and breakdown dining room with servers.
- Assist bartenders in stocking the bar.
- Bus and reset tables.
- Stock supplies and keep the dining room clean and organized.
IMPORTANT:
** The upcoming holiday season is the busiest time of year for us. We are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open on all other days. (Open Christmas Day.) Time off on or around the holidays is unlikely. If this is a deal-breaker for you, please do not apply. **
