Description
Santa Monica Proper is seeking a Banquet Manager. A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, the 271-room Santa Monica Proper Hotel features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and almost 7,000 square feet of ground floor retail.

The Banquet Manager is responsible for managing the daily execution of all banquet functions in the hotel, delivering outstanding guest service and financial profitability. This position reports directly to the Director of Food & Beverage.

Job Overview
- Oversee daily operations of the Banquet Department, including providing support and guidance to all Colleagues and ensuring a successful and effective operation ending in a positive guest experience
- Manage the floor during events and non-events (set up and breakdown), working with clients and colleagues to create a memorable experience
- Maintain a high level of service by constantly training and coaching all direct reports and staff
- Create and review all written communication including Banquet Event Orders to determine appropriate staffing levels, room/station assignments, buffet décor and enhancements as they relate to banquets and meeting room set-ups
- Complete necessary administrative work to include, payroll, scheduling, planning service assignments, and preparing room diagrams for set ups
- Ensure appropriate and timely set up of all functions and meetings while maintaining standards of food, beverage and meeting specifications
- Review staffing levels and payroll to ensure the highest level of profitability for the department

Qualifications
- 2-4 years of Leadership experience in Banquets is required
- Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate the team
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of Delphi, Excel and ADP (or another payroll system)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Education
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
