Assistant Director of Housekeeping


Description

Santa Monica Proper is seeking an Assistant Director of Housekeeping. A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, the 271-room Santa Monica Proper Hotel features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and almost 7,000 square feet of ground floor retail.

Reporting directly to the Director of Housekeeping, the Assistant Director of Housekeeping oversees housekeeping functions and staff daily to ensure property guest rooms, public space and employee areas are clean and well maintained. They will direct and work with the Housekeeping team to successfully execute all housekeeping operations. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department.

Job Overview

  • Assist with training new hires, starting with onboarding
  • Work with DOH and Director of Training regarding each colleagues training
  • Handle and oversee daily housekeeping operations, while working closely with DOH
  • Assist with DOH regarding ordering of supplies through Birchstreet
  • Assist with ADP, payroll, documentations, coaching, etc.
  • Handle training, coaching, discipline, for Housekeeping managers
  • Assist in all reviews for hourly employees (90 Day, annual, etc)
  • Assist the DOH in all aspects of Forbes training
  • Assist the DOH on hiring, interview, posting of all hourly positions
  • Assist the DOH and train all HK managers on Forecast, P&L and Financial aspect of the operations.
  • Handle all inventories by scheduling, staffing, and communicating in every area in HK (minibar, linen, supplies, etc.)
  • Assist the DOH as need on making the HK schedule every week.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in a luxury or lifestyle hotel, highly preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organization & time management skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

Education
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
