Description

Sleeping Giant, a family of independent gastropubs that have grown to become New York City's most beloved bars: Bua, Wilfie & Nell, Sweet Afton, The Wren, The Penrose, The Bonnie and The Spaniard is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team. 

This position is part of a central team working directly with owners and on-site managers to plan the company’s ongoing development and growth.  We're looking for a strategic thinker, problem-solver, multi-tasker, and an excellent communicator. This key leader will uphold Sleeping Giant’s standards of excellence in all areas including team management, financial accountability, quality of service, workplace culture and guest relations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Assist on-site management teams to manage day-to-day operations while also working toward long-term business goals
  • Coaching and ongoing development of managers
  • Work with managers to develop and improve training programs for hourly staff
  • Work with Sleeping Giant Team to develop timely metrics for all bars to track key aspects of the business
  • Analyze metrics data to determine areas for improvement and work with Sleeping Giant team and on-site managers to develop and implement actionable plans
  • Assist with occasional accounting, payroll and management coverage
  • Advise and assist management teams on purchasing, receiving, and inventory procedures
  • Work with management teams to develop strategies to manage restaurant financials
  • Help develop and implement companywide SOPs
  • Foster a dynamic, enjoyable and inclusive company culture


WHO YOU ARE:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the hospitality industry, preferably as a GM
  • Approachable and intelligent leader who is able to motivate, manage, and develop a large and diverse team
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented and who appreciates and takes initiative on both the essential details and the bigger picture
  • Team player with a roll up your sleeves attitude
  • Superb time management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution
  • Effective communication skills, able to communicate efficiently with owners, management teams, FOH and BOH staff
