Reports to: Head Barista
Qualifications required: Must Be Barista trained with 2+ years’ experience.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position of Barista requires the employee to have initiative and be highly self motivated.
A knowledge and passion for coffee, food, quality and service is essential.
Knowledge of Safe Food Handling procedures is required.
As a Barista you are required to perform the daily service and cleaning tasks outlined by the
Head Barista across the café. The role must demonstrate a commitment to a high level of
quality and hygienic standards as well as providing exceptional customer service as per
company guidelines. The Barista is responsible for honouring each and every customer by
providing excellent customer service and is also responsible for educating customers about
our premium coffees and teas.

Your duties include:
• Representing the Market Lane NYC brand by maintaining a high level of personal
presentation, wearing full uniform at all times during service and conducting yourself with
the highest level of professionalism.
• Provide exceptional customer service in a friendly, informative manner to all store
customers.
• Report all customer grievances or feedback to the Head Barista.
• Ensure immaculate presentation and cleanliness of all store and service areas as per
hygiene standards.
• Maintain strong product knowledge across all areas (specifically with coffee and hot
beverages) and a willingness to participate in on the job and off site training when required.
• General cash handling and register operation with a high degree of accuracy.
• Proactively participate in any of the stores sales or service initiatives.
• Follow effective stock management procedures as directed by senior staff.
• Completion of daily open and close procedures and the required cleaning schedules for
that shift.
• Ensure all equipment is used for the purpose it was intended and report any maintenance
or repair requirements to senior management.
• Monitor/record incoming high risk products (i.e. milk) and daily refrigeration temperature
checks as required to ensure standards of quality.
• A commitment to ensuring the health and safety of the work site through compliance with
the occupational health and safety practices of the company.
• Maintains the highest level of standards for all product preparation.
• Adheres to all Company recipes and measurements and produces superior product
presentation.
• Education of customers, staff and management of beverage and coffee quality, origin and
uniqueness.
• All other store duties as outlined to you by the Head Barista or Bakery & Coffee manager.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
• A contribution to store sales and revenue.
• Implementing effective work practices to minimise wastage and unnecessary costs to the
business.
• Demonstrates a high level of customer service and an understanding of the service model.
• Evidence of participation at in store/off site training, staff meetings and sales/ service
initiatives.
• Demonstrated compliance with company policies, OH&S, food safety, hygiene standards
and instruction from management.
