Summary:
The Senior Payroll Specialist provides support to the Payroll Director and has responsibility for maintaining and processing accurate timely payrolls. You will also be the local payroll subject matter expert, responding to inquiries regarding state and local payroll and wage regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll - Processes payroll to ensure that all work is completed according to scheduled deadlines with attention to quality standards, priorities, and overall goals
- Monitors compliance with approved policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements to payroll procedures.
- Points of contact for employees with payroll-related questions
- Provides support during quarterly and end of year process
- Prepares periodical payroll-related reports, analyses, and statements.
- Performs accurate, correct, and timely payroll reconciliations and audits before it is finalized.
- Maintains strong working knowledge of payroll processes as a multi-state employer.
- Assists team members with resolving errors or responding to escalated inquiries.
- Provides backup support to Payroll Director as needed.
- Collaborates with HRIS, Operations, and Benefits to ensure all employee data is accurate within the Payroll/HR Software.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Skills and Knowledge: - Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of current payroll software (i.e. Paylocity & Evention Tips & Gratuities)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, HR or related field is required.
- CCP - Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
- Minimum of seven (5- 7) years of direct payroll processing are required.
- Experience with conducting/processing payroll for hospitality industry.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and validation.
