 The Role:

Reporting to the SVP Technology, the Sr. Director of Infrastructure and Operations is a key member of the Technology leadership team and is accountable for the design, build, and ongoing operations of Cava’s Infrastructure, service management, and security practices. The candidate will have responsibility for developing a multi-year Infrastructure, operations, and security roadmap with accountability for advocating and executing the plan.  This individual must be a strong team leader who brings a mix of pragmatism, creativity, and solid management capabilities in leveraging Cloud-based solutions as a competitive advantage to help Cava achieve operational excellence and outstanding guest experiences with an eye toward longer-term scalability, cost-effective and efficient operations.  

 What You’ll Do:

  • Provide technical vision and architectural leadership over infrastructure, help desk, security, and operations practices in support of Cava’s business strategy in a secure, scalable, and performant manner.
  • Responsible for defining and managing a yearly operating budget including telecommunications/data, Cloud (AWS), low voltage and systems installations/repairs at stores and Corporate, network systems management/maintenance contracts with external Service Providers, and hardware/software/AV purchases for both the stores and support center environments.
  • Responsible for developing a security strategy and business/disaster recovery and business impact analysis activities, to ensure a secure and performant operating technology platform
  • Responsible for collaborating with the DevOps functions, contributing to defining standards/frameworks, and managing costs.
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle of client compute including Office 365 portfolio and cloud-based applications
  • Responsible for restaurant and support center infrastructure technologies including PCs, servers, networking equipment, power supplies, printers, conferencing solutions, and phones/communications, etc.
  • Establishing, updating, and implementing IT-related policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recovery, compliance, standards, and service protocol.
  • Responsible for leading vendor contract management and implementing performance management practices to ensure the highest level of quality is maintained for all solutions.
  • Team leadership including mentoring/coaching, hard and soft skill development, etc.

 The Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years as a leader of IT Infrastructure Services for a national, multisite organization preferably retail or restaurant industries; 3+ years working with public cloud services providers specifically AWS.
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical engineering or development role experience. Previous hands-on distributed infrastructure experience and working knowledge of DevOps, Cloud provisioning, managed services, and the Security accreditation processes
  • Experience working with a wide range of open-source tools and distribution engines.
  • Strong and demonstrated experience with AWS Cloud technologies including successful migration to cloud-hosted platforms and supporting cloud business productivity suites such as Office 365
  • Ability to drive Cloud Architecture and Cloud Engineering practices in collaboration with Application owners, architects, and engineers
  • Proven ability to drive vendor selection processes, contract negotiation, and ongoing vendor relationship practices in support of cost optimization, service level management, and long-term sustainability
  • ITIL v3 Enterprise experience including IT Help Desk / Service Management practice expertise including the ability to influence and lead tool and process adoption (e.g. Jira SD/ServiceNow, OpsGenie, etc.)
  • Experience with Scrum, Agile, Kanban practices and Atlassian/Jira software competency
  • Ability to foster and build strong relationships and ability to communicate verbally to technical and non-technical audiences and at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain a stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment 
  • Must be able to identify, analyze and assess details 
  • For certain positions must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively 
  • Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable 
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
