Paralegal – Real Estate (Remote)
In this remote Paralegal position, you will play a key role in our organization by supporting, guiding, and assisting members of our legal team, real estate department and other business units, in connection with items that include but are not limited to real estate matters, new restaurant construction, permitting and other legal needs as applicable.
What You’ll Do:
· Support the legal department’s management of the company’s real estate portfolio.
· Review, revise, negotiate and finalize estoppels, SNDAs, and other lease documents.
· Investigate and assist in the resolution of property and mechanics liens.
· Prepare and deliver lease termination and renewal notices.
· Support real estate transactions including lease negotiations with landlords.
· Assist the Development department with new construction legal issues.
· Assist the Real Estate department with tenant-landlord disputes.
· Assist with Property Management and Facilities with repair and maintenance legal issues.
· Assist Risk Management with Certificate of Insurance procurement for leased properties.
· Assist the Permits team with document collection and due diligence.
· Collect and distribute lease information, including leases, to internal team, as requested.
· Prepare notices of default for delivery to landlord’s and property managers.
· Investigate and respond to notices of default from landlords and property managers.
· Assist with other legal duties as assigned.
The Qualifications:
· Minimum 4 years of paralegal experience required, demonstrating exposure to real estate legal matters
· Experience working in a law firm’s real estate practice or in-house for company handling commercial real estate matters
· Paralegal Certificate preferred
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
· Extensive understanding and ability to read and review leases and related documents including but not limited to: Amendments, Abatements, Guaranties, Estoppels, SNDAs, COIs.
· Ability to summarize and interpret complex contractual clauses and lease provisions.
· Proven experience in real estate related litigation matters.
· Excellent organization skills
· Punctual
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to follow directions and procedures
· Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to compose professional emails
· Ability to prioritize workload and assignments
· Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
· Ability to work in a confidential environment while maintaining client confidentiality at all times
